OBERHOF, Germany -- Axel Teichmann delighted home fans by winning the mens pursuit race in the second event of the Tour de Ski cross-country series on Friday.http://www.nflfalconsus.com/Womens-RaShede-Hageman-Authentic-Jersey/ . The German skier covered the 15-kilometre distance in classic style in 46 minutes 3.3 seconds, coming from behind after Thursdays prologue. Teichmann started 28.7 seconds behind Petter Northug Jr. of Norway, but surged past the world champion to win by more than two seconds. Northug clocked 46:05.6 and last years tour winner Dario Cologna of Switzerland was third in 46:06.2. Devon Kershaw of Sudbury, Ont., was 15th in 46:19.5. He didnt have much kick to his skis once the track became glassy midway through the race. "The body felt so good again today, it is really tricky conditions and I had to rely solely on my upper body for the last six kilometres," Kershaw said. "It is a bit frustrating, but that is the game of cross-country skiing. Our guys tried their best, but the temperatures warmed up and theres nothing you can do. We have the best wax techs in the business and this will motivate them for sure. "It is frustrating, but tomorrow will be similar conditions and I know well get it right. There are lots of races to go." Alex Harvey of St-Ferreol-les-Neiges, Que., was 27th and Ivan Babikov of Canmore, Alta., finished 52nd. Earlier, defending champion Justyna Kowalczyk of Poland won the 10-kilometre womens pursuit race. Kowalczyk also won Thursdays prologue and led from start to finish in the classical event to win in 32:04.4. Therese Johaug of Norway by two-tenths of a second. World Cup leader Marit Bjoergen of Norway was third in 32:11.5. Bjoergen started in second place while Johaug jumped from 14th. Johaug also moved into second place in the overall World Cup standings. Making the Gillette Move of the Week, the Boston Red Sox, who have won eight of nine, moved up from 27 to 20. While newly-acquired third baseman Chase Headley may be having a career-worst season, he could help the New York Yankees, who also climb, from 19 to 15. Heading the wrong way, the Kansas City Royals are 3-10 in their past 13 games and drop from 14 to 19, while the Miami Marlins sink from 17 to 24 with a 5-9 record in the past 14 games.
