ANAHEIM, Calif. Steven Jackson . - C.J. Wilson pitched two-hit ball over eight innings, Hank Conger hit a go-ahead, two-run homer off Zach McAllister, and the Los Angeles Angels beat Cleveland 7-1 Wednesday to send the Indians to their sixth straight loss. Wilson (4-2) struck out eight, walked one and retired his last 18 batters after a leadoff double in the third by No. 9 hitter Elliot Johnson. Clevelands other hit was an RBI single in the second by David Murphy, who was thrown out trying to steal for the innings final out. Los Angeles has scored seven or more runs each of Wilsons victories, and fewer than four in both losses. David Freese had a two-run single in the fifth against Marc Rzepczynski, and Mike Trout added a two-run double in the sixth off demoted starter Carlos Carrasco. Clevelands bullpen entered having stranded 42 of 46 inherited runners, the best percentage in the majors. McAllister (3-2) threw 101 pitches over 4 1-3 innings and was charged with five runs, four hits and four walks. Pitching on three days rest for the first time in the big leagues after throwing 75 pitches over five innings in a 5-3 loss at San Francisco on Saturday, McAllister was shifted to the rotation after Carrasco went 0-3 with a 6.95 ERA in four starts. Cleveland, which heads home to host the Chicago White Sox, was swept in consecutive series for the first time since last June at the New York Yankees and Detroit. The Indians totalled just 13 runs during the six-game trip, batting .183 and going 6 for 36 with runners in scoring position. Cleveland opened the scoring in the second with David Murphys two-out RBI single. Congers homer put the Angels ahead in the second, ending McAllisters streak of 37 1-3 homerless innings since Houstons Brandon Laird connected Sept. 20. Albert Pujols made it 3-1 in the third with a sacrifice fly to centre fielder Michael Bourn, who had no chance to make a play on Howie Kendrick at the plate after left fielder Mike Aviles banged into him. Aviles started in left field for the third time this season with Michael Brantley (1 for 14 against Wilson) getting the day off. NOTES: Bourn had a leadoff single in the ninth against RHP Mike Morin, who was making his major league debut. But he was quickly erased on a double-play grounder by Aviles. ... Trouts walkup music was "Trophies" by the group "Young Money." ... Johnson started at 2B for the Indians in place of Jason Kipnis, who left Tuesday nights game because of a strained abdominal muscle. "Theres no rush to put a guy on the DL. We can handle it. Well just kind of see how he responds," manager Terry Francona said. "Weve all seen it and been around it — where during the action of a game, a guy feels like its minimal. Then they wake up in the morning and feel like theyve got a knife stuck in them." ... All 15 big league homers by the switch-hitting Conger have been against right-handed pitchers, and nine of them have come with at least one man on base. ... The Angels didnt fly their 2002 World Series championship banner, their eight division title flags or the California state flag because of fierce Santa Ana winds, which were clocked at 27 mph at gametime. ... Cleveland is the only team in the majors that hasnt played an extra-inning game. Drew Davis .These are Cobains statistics: he had 13 hits (twelve singles and a double) in 40 at-bats with a .333 batting average. He had 7 RBIs, no home runs and only 1 error. Pretty impressive! Here is another picture of a 12-year-old Cobain on his team, the Elks, which is on display at the Hard Rock Café at Universal CityWalk in Hollywood:Lastly, here is a picture of Cobain from his junior high school wrestling team:Cobain also came up in an interview that Kenny Mayne conducted with with Pearl Jams Jeff Ament, a noted hoopshead like the rest of his band that was formerly named "Mookie Blaylock" in tribute to the former Atlanta Hawk, in ESPN The Magazine. Justin Blalock .S. Open. The 1997 British Open champion, who has won 12 times on the PGA Tour but not since 2008, was among the 16 players at the Columbus site who qualified for the U.HOUSTON -- Alex Rodriguez said dealing with his 211-game suspension stemming from baseballs Biogenesis drug investigation has been a "big burden" and adds hes ready to face it "head on" when the arbitration hearing on his grievance begins Monday. The New York Yankees third baseman didnt expect to play this weekend during the teams season-ending series at Houston because of soreness in his legs. He said hes excited to get the hearing started before arbitrator Fredric Horowitz and he plans to attend every day. Horowitz has set aside all five business days next week for sessions. "Im fighting for my life and my whole legacy," Rodriguez said. "Yeah, I should be there." Rodriguez was suspended by MLB on Aug. 5, the day he returned from January hip surgery and a quadriceps injury sustained during a minor league rehabilitation assignment. He dodged the question when asked whether he would consider it a victory if his suspension were shortened or would he would be satisfied only if it were overturned completely. "Im not going to get into that," he said. "I told you guys about a month-and-a-half ago that Im not going to talk about it during the season. Im kind of just giving you some colour on it, but Im not going to get into my expectations and whatnot." He said he will discuss the case in detail at some unspecified point. "Obviously this is going to be a grueling process all the way through," he said. "Youll hear the full story when the time is righht for me, and that time is not just now. Jonathan Babineaux. " The 38-year-old is hitting .244 with seven homers and 19 RBIs in 44 games this season and is six homers shy of tying Willie Mays 660 for fourth place on the career list, behind only Barry Bonds (762), Hank Aaron (755) and Babe Ruth (714). Rodriguez is owed $86 million in salaries by the Yankees: $25 million next year, $21 million in 2015 and $20 million in each of the final two seasons of his $275 million, 10-year deal. He can also earn five $6 million bonuses contemplated to be tying the home run marks of Mays, Ruth, Aaron and Bonds, and breaking Bonds record. How much money the Yankees save during any suspension could help determine whether they re-sign second baseman Robinson Cano or try to sign free agents such as catcher Brian McCann. After missing so much time because of injuries this season, Rodriguez is eager to get back in a training routine and prepare for next season. He said however long he is suspended; it will leave him on the field more than he has been recently because of his health problems. "Its not going to be longer no matter how you draw it up," he said. "Its not going to be longer than (when) I was out almost an entire year with no training. Whatever it is I think it should be hopefully less than that." He believes he can still be a productive member of this team and cant wait for next season. "Im looking forward to coming back in great shape and being a big contributor," he said. ' ' '
