Colorado Springs, CO - Toronto Raptors shooting guard DeMar DeRozan has made the cut of 16 finalists selected for the next round of the USA Mens National Team training. Andre Ellington Jersey . USA Basketball trimmed its roster for the upcoming FIBA World Cup, cutting John Wall, Bradley Beal and Paul Millsap on Tuesday. A total of 16 players are still competing for 12 spots on the team that will play in Spain later this summer. The remaining finalists including DeRozan are DeMarcus Cousins, Stephen Curry, Anthony Davis, Andre Drummond, Kevin Durant, Kenneth Faried, James Harden, Gordon Hayward, Kyrie Irving, Kyle Korver, Damian Lillard, Chandler Parsons, Derrick Rose, Klay Thompson and Mason Plumlee. "All 16 guys have a chance to make to the team, which usually does not happen in a training camp, and it shows that all of the guys thus far have done an excellent job," said Team USA head coach Mike Krzyzewski in a statement Tuesday. "Then its just a matter of finding what chemistry that we can develop with the entire group and I dont think well know that until we play some exhibition games. The 16 guys give us a chance to look at a way of playing in a number of different ways and we just have to figure out what those ways are and then the 12 who will fit best." Plumlee was an addition to the roster, which lost Paul George to a broken leg during Saturdays scrimmage at the conclusion of the teams training camp in Las Vegas. "The ending to our Las Vegas training camp with the injury to Paul George was very emotional for everyone involved in USA Basketball," said managing director Jerry Colangelo in a statement Tuesday. "I very much appreciate the outpouring of support Paul and USA Basketball has received the past couple of days from the basketball world." There had been speculation that some of the team members might pull out in the wake of Georges gruesome injury. The Pacers star landed awkwardly against the stanchion behind the basket, snapping his tibia and fibula. He underwent surgery Saturday night and could be sidelined for the entire 2014-15 season. "Past Olympic coaches and some of our past Olympic and world championship players have reached out offering their continued support and thats very important," Colangelo added. "Pauls injury was an extremely unfortunate occurrence; it was truly a freak accident. Were all very pleased that his recovery is going well." Wall and Millsap were late replacements after Kevin Love and Blake Griffin withdrew from consideration. "Weve said all along that we would be proud to have any of the players who were in Las Vegas represent USA Basketball and the United States," Colangelo stated. "This phase of the selection process was extremely difficult and very thorough, and its worth again mentioning that we are looking to select the best team, which are not necessarily the best players. Were pleased with where we are at this point of our training and were looking forward to getting back on the court and continuing our preparations to represent the United States at the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup." Practice will begin Aug. 14 in Chicago. A pair of exhibition games are slated for Madison Square Garden in New York on Aug. 20 and Aug. 22. The FIBA World Cup, previously known as the World Championship, will be held Aug. 30-Sept. 14.Patrick Peterson Jersey . -- Ben Martin made his way through most of the TPC Louisiana course with the type of sparse gallery one would expect for a player who had missed seven cuts in his previous nine starts on the PGA Tour. Daryl Washington Jersey . The moment Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday backed off Hill in order to defend against a possible pass or drive, Hill sprung into his shooting motion and drained a 3-pointer with 31.1 seconds left. The shot provided a four-point cushion, and Indiana went on to complete a 16-point, second-half comeback for its second victory in as many nights, 95-90 over New Orleans on Wednesday night.WINNIPEG -- No one was saying it was more than one or two lucky bounces. But St. Louis Blues coach Ken Hitch**** said his team definitely earned Kevin Shattenkirks power-play goal late in the third period that let them leave Winnipeg with a 2-1 win Tuesday. "It was a seeing-eye shot but, if you look at the shift, we out-fought for three pucks just to get that opportunity, which is what happened for the whole third period, which was really impressive," said Hitch****. The win over the Jets at least helps make up for the three out of four the Blues (20-6-3) lost coming into Winnipeg. "As the game wore on, our confidence came back to fight for pucks and to battle," said Hitch****. "I thought the debris from what happened here in the last week or so started to eliminate and we just started to get our spirit back." Bryan Little scored for the Jets (14-14-4), who started a little slow but more than held their own in the first period, outshooting the Blues by an 8-2 margin. It looked like Shattenkirks shot may have glanced off Little, among others, on the way into the Jets net. "It was disappointing, just because we worked to get back in the game and tied it up and then they get one that bounces off a couple of things and goes in . . . right at the end of the game," said Little, Winnipegs leading scorer with 13 goals and 28 points. "To lose that way is definitely frustrating." Alex Steen got things started in the second with the Blues first goal. He was behind the Winnipeg goal-line midway between the net and the boards at 4:44 when he slid a puck behind Ondrej Pavelec that banked off the Winnipeg goalie to put the Blues ahead 1-0. Pavelec was focusing on those in front of the net rather than the Blues leading sniper to his right. It was Steens 21st goal of the season. "It was a hard-fought game today, really tight net, both teams clogged neutral zones and D-zones," said Steen, who was born in Winnipeg and is the son oof original Jet Thomas Steen, now a city councillor in his adopted hometown. Matt Shaughnessy Jersey. "Both goalies played really well, it was a good game today, a fun game," said Steen. As for his shot, he shrugged it off. "I dont know. I try it every now and then in practice. Ive tried it a couple of times in games" Jets coach Claude Noel was disappointed with the loss but not unhappy with the way his team played the Blues. "I thought the game was a game that was chess-match played game really," he said. "Both teams were being patient, playing kind of the same way, knowing that one goal or two goals could win it. I thought we played a pretty good game other than the fact that we didnt finish the game the right way. They scored a seeing-eye power-play goal, what can you do?" Little evened things up just three minutes into the third period as he won a faceoff and then snapped a pass from linemate Andrew Ladd past Brian Elliott on a power-play, thanks to a tripping call against Vladimir Sobotka. Jets defenceman Dustin Byfuglien was sent off with just over three minutes left in the game for hooking, which gave Shattenkirk his chance to score his third goal of the season. St. Louis was coming off a 5-2 home-ice loss to Anaheim. The Jets hadnt played at home since Nov. 23 but were 4-2 on an Eastern road swing, although this was their fourth straight loss at home. "I thought we did the necessary things to win the game, possibly 2-1, that was the game that was going to get played out and it did get played out," said Noel.
