The WBO didnt overturn the result, but ask

LOS ANGELES -- Now that the Colorado Rockies are going with a four-man rotation, manager Jim Tracy has limited every starter to about 75 pitches.Keshawn Martin Jersey Houston Texans . That gives them added incentive to keep their pitch counts down. Alex White threw 80 pitches in four innings Tuesday night, allowing one hit and five walks before he was lifted for a pinch-hitter. Josh Roenicke took over and threw three scoreless innings, while rookie Josh Rutledge drove in all of Colorados runs in a 3-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. "We know what weve got. Weve got 75 pitches, and our job is to get as far as we can," White said. "Thats what we did the last two nights. But thats the reason why weve got a good bullpen." It was the fifth straight game in which a Rockies starter didnt reach the fifth. In the series opener Monday night, Drew Pomeranz threw 84 pitches over four innings and was lifted with a two-run lead before Adam Ottavino and the bullpen closed out a 2-0 victory. "Its a little different, thats for sure," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. "Its a little bit more like a spring training game, because youre not getting the same type of look from the second guy that you got from the starter. But weve seen this White a couple of times, weve seen Roenicke, were seen Pomeranz and (Ottavino). So you can prepare. Theres plenty of video and preparation to be able to know what a guys throwing." Roenicke (4-0) has a 2.21 ERA in 45 appearances, compiling 43 strikeouts over 69 1-3 innings. "He continues to have a terrific season for us," Tracy said. "I think whats noteworthy is that hes done a much better job of pounding the strike zone. His stock just keeps improving." Rutledge had three doubles among his career-high four hits, one of which drove in two runs in the seventh after Shawn Tolleson relieved Dodgers starter Aaron Harang. The 23-year-old shortstop, getting a chance to play because of Troy Tulowitzkis groin injury, has 18 RBIs in 22 games since his promotion from Double-A Tulsa right after the All-Star break. His total includes home runs in four consecutive games last week. "He has played tremendously for us," Tracy said. "When this guy squares a ball up, I can tell you it makes a different sound. It gets off the bat in a hurry." The Dodgers scored in the eighth when Hanley Ramirez reached on a two-out infield single against Rex Brothers and came all the way home on James Loneys double against Matt Belisle. Rafael Betancourt, the fifth Colorado pitcher, worked a perfect ninth for his 19th save in 23 attempts. The Dodgers are 0 for 13 with runners in scoring position in the last two games against a pitching staff that entered the series with a major league-worst 5.51 ERA -- in addition to allowing the most runs, hits and homers in the majors. "Theyre playing well and theyre battling us," Harang said. "Ive been on teams like that where you have nothing to lose, so theyve been coming out hard. Theyre scraping runs together and their pitchings been holding us down." Harang (7-7) was charged with three runs and six hits in six-plus innings. The right-hander escaped bases-loaded jams in the first and fifth -- the latter on an inning-ending double play by rookie Jordan Pacheco. But that came three batters after Rutledge doubled home the first run of the game. The Dodgers had a scare in the second when Ramirez fouled a ball hard enough off his left foot that Mattingly and a trainer came out to check on him. Ramirez completed his at-bat after limping back to the plate and grounded a single through the left side of the infield -- hobbling all the way to first base. Los Angeles loaded the bases with one out in the third on three walks, including a two-out intentional pass to Andre Ethier, but Ramirez flied out. NOTES: The cap-slamming, profanity-laced rant that got Tracy ejected by umpire Mike Everitt on Monday has become an Internet sensation -- thanks mostly to Dodgers Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully, who did some priceless lip-reading in a blow-by-blow account of Tracys 5-plus minute tirade while substituting all the curse words with cleaner synonyms. "That was brought to my attention," said Tracy, who managed the Dodgers for five seasons and sat next to Scully on the team charter during road trips. "My wife told me: You might want to take a peek at that. He did a pretty good job, didnt he? But nothing surprises me with the way Vin does his duties -- nothing. He is one of the most beautiful people that Ive ever had the pleasure of being around. Hes so articulate and so well-spoken and such a gentleman." ... The Rockies had eight runners on base during Pachecos three at-bats, but none of them scored. ... White is 0-3 with three no-decisions and a 5.96 ERA since beating the Dodgers 3-2 on June 3 at Coors Field. He also walked five batters in that game. ... Harang is 0-3 with a 5.14 ERA in four starts this season when pitching on at least six days rest. DeAndre Hopkins . Liverpool is at the top at Christmas for the first time since 2008 after scoring 42 goals. Only Manchester City has been more lethal in front of goal, with the team — a point behind Liverpool and Arsenal in third — scoring 51 goals in 17 games. Duane Brown Jerseys . Jarome Iginla and Zdeno Chara each had two goals, Tuukka Rask made 25 saves and the Bruins beat the Philadelphia Flyers 6-1 Saturday.BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -- Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley intend to leave no doubt this time. Nearly two years after Bradley beat the Filipino congressman in a hotly disputed split decision, the welterweights both seemed uncommonly confident Tuesday as they began promotional work for their April 12 rematch. Thats because each man is still unshakably certain he won their first meeting. "I want to maintain my name at the top and prove I can still fight," Pacquiao said. "My career is not done yet." The June 2012 decision was savaged by fans, media and even Bob Arum, both fighters promoter. They all believed Pacquiaos power and combinations had beaten Bradleys elusiveness and tactical approach. Bradley (31-0, 12 KOs) still feels wronged by the reactions to the biggest win of his life, ranging from catcalls on the street to death threats in the mail. "With all the controversy, this fight is about redemption," Bradley said. "I want to redeem what I didnt get, which is the credit. Its important for me to make the win decisive in the peoples eyes this time. Ive already got a win. This is so I can walk down the street and nobody says, Hey, you didnt win that fight, man. That hurts me." Pacquiao (55-5-2, 38 KOs) and trainer Freddie Roach both believe Pacquiao won essentially every round in the first bout. But the Pacman still wants to prove hes back on top of his game by avenging the loss that snapped his 15-fight winning streak. "Im not angry anymore," Pacquiao said. "I was surprised by the decision, but Im the kind of person that I respect the decision of the judges." But did Pacquiao agree that Bradley gave him "a boxing lesson," in the infamous words of judge Duane Ford? "I think I gave hhim a boxing lesson, and the judges gave him that," Pacquiao said with a smile. Ryan Griffin Jersey Houston Texans. Pacquiao and Bradley will meet again for the WBO 147-pound title at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas. Bradley is opening camp in his native Palm Springs area on Monday, while Pacquiao will train in the Philippines before moving back to Freddie Roachs Wild Card Gym in Hollywood in March. "To be honest, I wasnt as motivated when I was training for our first fight," Pacquiao said. "I guess I didnt take him seriously enough." The split decision was so reviled that the WBO hired five independent judges to re-score the bout on video, and all five favoured Pacquiao. The WBO didnt overturn the result, but asked for a rematch -- and after both fighters boosted their careers with victories last year, they were ready to do it again. Pacquiao was knocked out by Juan Manuel Marquez a few months after the Bradley bout, and he took nearly a year off before returning to dominate Brandon Rios in Macau. Bradley watched both fights, but wasnt impressed. "He still has all the skill sets," Bradley said. "I just feel like that killer instinct is gone." Bradley turned himself into one of boxings biggest names in 2013 with a sensational brawl against Ruslan Provodnikov and a classy decision win over Marquez. Bradley acknowledges being a bit star-struck before he got in the ring with Pacquiao, but he was surprised how easily he could handle the man who was on top of the sport at the time. Bradley feels he won the first fight, but believes he can win the rematch clearly enough for everybody to see. "I know what to expect this time," Bradley said. "Its like when you learn to ride a bike. The second time is easier." ' ' '
