PITTSBURGH -- Gregory Polanco has already earned a long list of admirers during his short time in the majors. Nike Air Max Thea Heren . New York Mets manager Terry Collins is now one of them. Collins got his first look at the Pittsburgh Pirates rookie right fielder Thursday night and came away impressed. "Hes got a lot of tools, a lot of skills," Collins said. "I watched him in batting practice and you see he had big power, then he showed it in the game. Hes very impressive." The hot-hitting Polanco homered and drove in four runs, and resurgent right-hander Vance Worley pitched seven stingy innings to lead the Pirates past the Mets 5-2 for their fifth win in six games. Polanco drove in the games first run with a groundout in the first inning, then sent a three-run homer into the right-field stands off Daisuke Matsuzaka in the fifth to put the Pirates ahead 5-1. The right fielder went 2 for 3 with a walk and is hitting .338 in 16 games since being called up from Triple-A Indianapolis on June 10. The Pirates are 10-6 since Polanco arrived, pushing them one game above .500 at 40-39. "Hes a talented young man, so Im humble to have him on the club and the opportunity to write his name in the lineup," Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said. "Its a good time for him to be included on our club and hes obviously been making a difference since hes been up here." Worley (2-0) scattered seven hits, walked two and struck out three. He has given up four runs in 20 2-3 innings over three starts since coming up from Indianapolis on June 15. He was 1-5 with a 7.21 ERA in 10 starts for Minnesota last season. Hurdle was particularly impressed that Worley pitched so effectively while struggling with his command. Worley had walked only five batters in 58 2-3 innings between Pittsburgh and Indianapolis prior to Thursday. "It was a very solid body of work, a very professional effort," Hurdle said. "Hell be the first one to tell you he wasnt as sharp as hed been previously. You saw a man go out there and have to wrestle a little bit and maintain composure, mound presence, and just pound the zone." Matsuzaka (3-2) allowed five runs and five hits in six innings with four walks and four strikeouts. Lucas Duda hit his team-high 12th home run for the Mets. New York cut it to 5-2 on back-to-back doubles by Daniel Murphy and David Wright in the eighth, but Mark Melancon pitched a perfect ninth for his 14th save. Polancos home run came on a full-count pitch with one out after Pedro Alvarez hit the first of his three singles and Worley also singled. Polanco sounded a little like famous Notre Dame football coach Knute Rockne when he talked about his approach at the plate in that situation. "I just fight, fight, fight, swing, swing and try to make contact," Polanco said. "I stayed with my approach and I hit it." Polanco hit a slider after Mets catcher Travis dArnaud had called for a changeup. "I shook off dArnaud and that ended up being a big mistake," Matsuzaka said through a translator. "I apologize to him about that." NOTES: New York activated CF Juan Lagares (ribcage) from the 15-day disabled list before the game. ... Mets RHP Dillon Gee will make his second rehab start Sunday, pitching for Class-A Brooklyn while on a 55-pitch limit. He has been on the DL since June 11 with a strained right lat. ... Pittsburgh LF Starling Marte was not in the starting lineup for the second straight game. He felt concussion-like symptoms after sliding into second base Tuesday night at Tampa Bay. The head and neck are no longer a problem, but Marte is still feeling the effects of a jammed right middle finger. ... Pirates LHP Francisco Liriano had a 30-pitch bullpen session, the first time he had thrown off a mound since going on the disabled list June 11 with a left oblique strain. ... New York RHP Jacob deGrom (1-4, 3.75 ERA) faces RHP Brandon Cumpton (3-2, 4.93) in a matchup of rookies Friday night. Nike Air Max Thea Dames .C. -- Al Jefferson thinks hes finally figured out the NBA game. Nike Air Max 2015 Dames . Louis is going to get a chance to represent his country at the Winter Olympics after all.WASHINGTON -- Other than an audacious steal of home, Cole Hamels had no problem shutting down the Washington Nationals. Turns out, only his Philadelphia teammates batting performance could keep Hamels from his 11th complete game. The left-hander gave up five hits over eight innings in the Phillies 9-3 victory Sunday night. He batted to lead off the ninth, then the Phillies batted around, scoring six runs, and Hamels was lifted for pinch-hitter John Mayberry when his spot came up the second time in the inning. "When you start games and youre pitching well you want to finish them," Hamels said. "But theres a window of time you have before you lose all ounce of strength and you get the stiffening up, and thats kind of what was happening." Hunter Pence hit a pair of two-run homers to help the Phillies snap a seven-game losing streak against Washington dating to last year and avoid a sweep in the three-game series. Of more concern to Washington will be the status of right fielder Jayson Werth, who left after breaking his left wrist while attempting a sliding catch. "Its a clean break," Nationals manager Davey Johnson said. "Hes going to be out for a while." Washington rookie Bryce Harper stole home in the first inning after being hit by Hamels, just the latest in an already growing list of accomplishments for the 19-year-old. Harper came up with two outs in the first and Hamels plunked him in the small of the back. "I was trying to hit him. Im not going to deny it," Hamels said. "Thats something I grew up watching, thats kind of what happened, so Im just trying to continue the old baseball because I think some people are kind of getting away from it. I remember when I was a rookie the strike zone was really, really small and you didnt say anything because thats the way baseball is. But I think unfortunately the leagues protecting certain players and making it not that old-school, prestigious way of baseball." Harper quickly shrugged off the sting, going from first to third on Werths single to left. When Hamels made a pickoff throw to first, Harper broke for home and slid in under the tag. "Its just, Welcome to the big leagues," Hamel said. "And I think he kind of did that for me." It was Harpers first stolen base in his eight-game major league career. In the third inning, Zimmermann hit Hamels in the left leg with one out and a runner on first when Hamels squared to bunt. Home plaate umpire Andy Fletcher warned both dugouts. Nike Air Max Thea Sale. After the game Harper didnt answer directly when asked if he thought Hamels was trying to hit him, but Johnson thought the move was unintentional. "I never think its on purpose. Why would you hit him?" Johnson said. "I didnt think our guy was on purpose either." Hamels (4-1) cruised after Harpers run. He didnt allow more than one base runner in an inning after the first, and struck out eight against one walk. The game was close until Philadelphias six-run ninth inning, including Pences second homer of the night and sixth this season. "Its a game we really needed to get," Pence said. "We did a good job today of finding a way to score runs." Washington starter Jordan Zimmermann (1-3) pitched into the seventh inning, giving up three runs and seven hits and walking four batters as the NL East-leading Nationals ended a four-game winning streak. Zimmermann had not given up more than one earned run in any of his first four starts this season, but has allowed six over his past two outings. He also had not walked more than two batters in 30 straight starts coming into Sundays game. Werths injury came in the sixth inning. The right fielders glove got caught underneath him and bent his wrist backward trying to grab Placido Polancos sinking liner. Werth stayed on the ground briefly before throwing the ball back to the infield. He walked off holding his left wrist. Werth missed the entire 2006 season after an injury to his left wrist which placed his career in jeopardy. He broke the wrist in spring training 2005 with the Dodgers and played 102 games that season before undergoing surgery to repair a torn ligament in the wrist. NOTES: Nationals 3B Ryan Zimmerman (shoulder) took batting practice on the field before the game as he prepares to come off the disabled list. "It felt good," he said. "If everything continues to feel like it felt today, Ill play Tuesday." ... The only other steal of home by a Nationals player was April 20, 2011, when Ian Desmond stole home against St. Louis as part of a double steal. ... Philadelphia manager Charlie Manuel said LHP Cliff Lee (strained left oblique muscle) will come off the disabled list and pitch Wednesday against the Mets. ... Pro Football Hall of Famer Darrell Green and Basketball Hall of Famer Adrian Dantley were among six people inducted into the D.C. Sports Hall of Fame in a pregame ceremony. cheap jerseys from china cheap jerseys ' ' '
