St. Louis grabbed a 4-2 lead at 6:13 of the third as a 2-on-1 saw Steen fire a pass from the left wing to the right where Tarasenko finished it off for his 25th goal of the season. The Caps made it a one-goal game with 7:32 to play as Alzner threw a shot on net from the left point that made its way past a maze of players for his fourth of the season. St. Louis, though, did a good job keeping the puck away from the Caps during the final minute, as Washington was unable to pull its goalie until late and couldnt net the equalizer.
