Flushing Meadows, NY (Sports Network) - World No. cheap jerseys from china . 1 Caroline Wozniacki, fourth-seeded Victoria Azarenka and three-time champion Serena Williams were easy opening-round winners Tuesday at the 2011 U.S. Open. The former No. 1 Williams, who owns 13 major titles, including U.S. Opens in 1999, 2002 and 2008, breezed past Serbian Bojana Jovanovski, 6-1, 6-1 in less than an hour on the final match of the night. Williams, who came here riding a 12-match overall winning streak, missed last years U.S. Open while recovering from foot surgery. But she was in top form under the lights. "I think I could have played better," said Williams, who will play Michaella Krajicek of the Netherlands in round two. "Im a little quicker, which I like. Thats always a plus." The 2009 U.S. Open runner-up Wozniacki blew past 31-year-old Nuria Llagostera Vives 6-3, 6-1 on Day 2 at Ashe Stadium. The Spanish Llagostera Vives is now 0-7 lifetime at Americas Open. Wozniacki, who captured a fourth straight New Haven title this past weekend, leads the WTA with six championships this season, but failed to get past the fourth round at the last two Grand Slam events -- the French Open and Wimbledon. The 21-year-old Dane, who is currently dating U.S. Open golf champion Rory McIlroy, is still seeking her first-ever major title. When asked if she was playing well enough to capture the U.S. Open, Wozniacki said: "Well, always first match is tough to indicate anything. But, you know, happy to be through. I definitely still have a chance because now theres only 64 left." "Ive won a lot of tournaments. Im No. 1 in the world, and of course I can still improve," the happy-go-lucky Dane added. Wozniacki will face Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus in the second round. The Belarusian Azarenka, meanwhile, handled overmatched Swede Johanna Larsson 6-1, 6-3 in 70 minutes at Ashe. "There are always things that could have been done better, but I think I had a pretty solid start," Azarenka said. "I kept control of the match, so its important, you know, to have that control in the opening rounds." The 22-year-old Azarenka reached her first career Grand Slam semifinal last month at Wimbledon. The U.S. Open is the only major event where she has failed to reach a quarterfinal. Sixth-seeded Li Na suffered the biggest upset of the day, as Romanian teenager Simona Halep took out the French Open champion and Aussie Open runner-up from China in 6-2, 7-5 fashion. The promising Halep is a 19-year-old who is ranked 53rd in the world. Lis loss leaves the U.S. Open without a Grand Slam champion from this season. Aussie Open champ Kim Clijsters was unable to play here, while Wimbledon winner Petra Kvitova lost on Monday, and Li exited the draw on Tuesday. This particular U.S. Open scenario hasnt happened since 1971. Seventh-seeded Italian grinder Francesca Schiavone barely moved on with a hard-fought 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 victory over Kazakhstans Galina Voskoboeva. Schiavone committed four double-faults while trying to serve out the match, but then broke Voskoboevas serve to seal the win. "Not good serve," Schiavone said. "Cant happen, better it happen now than maybe to be longer, three, four games, but it was just two games bad, really bad." Schiavone advanced despite piling up 16 double faults on Day 2. The 31-year- old was this years French Open runner-up and last years surprise titlist at Roland Garros. Tenth-seeded rising German Andrea Petkovic pasted Russian Ekaterina Bychkova 6-2, 6-2, while former world No. 1 Jelena Jankovic eased her way past American Alison Riske 6-2, 6-0. Petkovic was a quarterfinalist at this years Aussie and French Opens. The 11th-seeded Serbian Jankovic was the U.S. Open runner-up three years ago. Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova, who is seeded 15th and was the 2004 champion and 2007 runner-up in Flushing, downed Italys Sara Errani, 7-5, 6-1. Another former No. 1 from Serbia, 16th-seeded Ana Ivanovic, got past Russian Ksenia Pervak 6-4, 6-2. Ivanovic is a former French Open champion and Aussie Open runner-up. Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, the 17th seed from Russia, defeated Anna Tatishvili, 6-2, 6-2. Meanwhile, 22nd-seeded German Sabine Lisicki stayed hot by leveling Ukrainian Alona Bondarenko 6-3, 6-3 and 26th-seeded Italian Flavia Pennetta pasted Frances Aravane Rezai 6-1, 6-4 on the grounds at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The rising Lisicki was last weeks hardcourt titlist in Dallas, where she beat Rezai in the final, and reached her first career major semi at the All England Club last month. Lisickis second-round opponent will be unseeded Venus Williams, the former world No. 1 who is a seven-time Grand Slam champ, including U.S. Open titles back in 2000 and 2001. "We played twice, and twice we had a very, very good match," Lisicki said about her upcoming bout with Venus." So, you know, I think it really depends who plays better that given day and that person will win, I think." Eighteenth-seeded Italian Roberta Vinci vaulted past Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu 6-3, 6-4; 20th-seeded Belgian Yanina Wickmayer handled Romanian Sorana Cirstea 6-1, 7-5; 21st-seeded Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova was beaten by Frances Pauline Parmentier, 6-2, 6-3; 23rd-seeded Israeli Shahar Peer outlasted Indian Sania Mirza 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 6-1; 29th-seeded Australian Jarmila Gajdosova got past Czech Iveta Benesova, 7-6 (7-5), 7-5; 31st-seeded Estonian Kaia Kanepi topped Thai veteran Tamarine Tanasugarn 6-4, 6-3; and No. 32 seed Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez of Spain was taken down by Germanys Mona Barthel, 6-3, 6-4. Several other women reached the second round, including former top-10 performer Jelena Dokic and American teenager Coco Vandeweghe, who dismissed Italian Alberta Brianti 7-5, 6-3. Dokic will battle Jankovic in her next outing. The 19-year-old Vandeweghe is the niece of former NBA player, coach and general manager Kiki Vandeweghe. Up next for Vandeweghe will be ninth-seeded former French Open runner-up Samantha Stosur of Australia. Another first-round win came for Argentine veteran Gisela Dulko, who should have her hands full with Azarenka in the round of 64. wholesale nfl jerseys .com) - Alabama and Florida State were predictably the top two teams in the latest installment of the BCS standings. cheap jerseys . The Thunder knotted the series with a 92-89 overtime victory in Memphis Saturday night. It was the third overtime contest during the four games of this series. "Now its tied up 2-2," OKC head coach Scott Brooks said. "That means that we have to play with the same type of intensity on both ends of the floor in front of our home crowd, which are the best fans in the league." The Grizzlies won Game 2 in Oklahoma City. On Saturday, the Thunders hero wasnt Kevin Durant, or Russell Westbrook. It wasnt even Serge Ibaka, rather top bench producer Reggie Jackson. Jackson scored a playoff career-best 32 points, including eight in overtime, to lead the Thunder. "We were struggling there in the fourth, and he just took it over," Durant said. "He was aggressive going to the rim all night. He just told himself before the game to be assertive. Defensively he was good. Offensively he attacked the defense and opened it up for everybody. We rolled all night. He made huge, huge plays and Im so proud of him." Durant had 15 points and 13 boards and Westbrook totaled 15 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, but the duo combined to shoot 11-of-45. Ibaka provided 12 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks for the second-seeded Thunder, who shot 36.7 percent. Marc Gasol had 23 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Grizzlies, who had a chance to tie the game at the end but Mike Conley missed a 3-point shot. Zach Randolph was limited to 11 points for the Grizzlies, who made 37.2 percent from the floor. Memphis widened the gap to 80-75 following a Gasol jumper beyond the foul line with 1:20 left, but the Thunder scrapped to get the game to OT. Jackson drained a 3-ball with 59.2 seconds left, and Durant came up with a steal, which led to Jacksons floater in the lane to tie the game with 30.6 on the clock. It was a wild finish to regulation. Gasol missed a foul-line jumper, and Allen got the offensive rebound, but Ibaka came up with the block under the hoop. Jackson then got the loose ball and had plenty of time to dribble down the court, but shot early well beyond half-court and the ball went out of bounds as time expired. OKC used hustle plays to even this series with Jackson at the center of the effort. He dove for a loose ball on the floor with 1:08 left in OT. Durant then was fouled on a drive to the bucket and made two for an 88-87 edge for the Thunder with 62 seconds left. Conley missed high off the glass, but he came back with a big steal. Westbrook missed a jumper, got his own rebound and tried to dribble the ball back out, but Conley stole the ball and called timeout with 30.9 on the clock. Conleys jumper was then too strong and Jackson made two from the charity stripe with 12.2 seconds left. Conley then drove in for an uncontested layup with 3.8 seconds to go, but Jackson made two more foul shots less than a second later. "I thought the little plays made the difference," said Memphis coach Dave Joerger. "I thought we had great chances to pull out the win. They made enough plays."
