who was signed by Buffalo a week after Williams

DENVER -- Patrick Roy was quite calm and even cracked a few jokes as his team went through a light workout. cheap jerseys from china . No signs of stress at all. Of course, the first-year Colorado Avalanche coach has been in a few pressure-packed Game 7 situations as a Hall of Fame goaltender -- 13 to be exact. His players? Not as much experience. A dozen had never been to the post-season before this year. And yet Roys hardly fretting over his teams emotional state heading into a decisive final game Wednesday night against the Minnesota Wild, with the winner moving on to face the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks. On the contrary, Roys reminding his youthful team of one simple thing: Enjoy the moment. "How good is this?" Roy said. "Theyre excited about it and they should be. ... Were playing Game 7 in our building, in front of our fans." In this series, home ice is a pretty big deal. All six games in this tightly contested matchup have been decided during the waning moments, with the home team capturing each one. Wild coach Mike Yeo has a stirring pregame speech all prepared for just the occasion, a few well-chosen words to put into his players ears before they hit the ice and hear the clamour of the crowd. Care to share the highlights? "Then it wouldnt be very inspirational," Yeo joked. Minnesota will try to neutralize the noise with another sizzling start. The Wild have scored the first goal in four of the games. "(Game 7s) are the best and also the worst," Yeo said. "You have so much on the line -- the players laying it all out there, the passion and the energy of the building and the fans. Theres just so much at stake." Avs forward Maxime Talbot stressed "having fun" to rookie Nathan MacKinnon, whos tied with Zach Parise for most points (10) in the NHL playoffs so far. Talbot knows the butterflies will be present for players such as MacKinnon -- and its something to embrace. "Thats why we play the game," said Talbot, who scored twice in Game 7 of the 2009 Stanley Cup final to lift Pittsburgh to a 2-1 win over Detroit. "Thats the coolest thing about hockey. As much experience as you have, you have to take these butterflies and turn them into excitement and energy, and thats definitely the feeling I have right now." Roy believes that Game 7 will hinge on, what else, the goalies. Semyon Varlamov won a team-record 41 games in the regular season, breaking the mark held by Roy. The goalie nicknamed "Varly" has faced a barrage of shots in this series, coming up big in several games. "Varlys always the brick out there," Talbot said. "We know hes going to make the big saves." The same can be said of Darcy Kuemper, who has a 1.53 goals- against average since stepping in for Ilya Bryzgalov in Game 2. Although Kuemper cant ever remember playing in a Game 7, he said that Mondays game -- a 5-2 win in which the Wild sealed it and extended the series by scoring two empty-net goals -- was good practice. "Now, both teams are in the situation," Kuemper said. "So theyre going to be a little bit more desperate than they were last game. Weve been through it before, so we should be pretty calm and confident with it." The intensity level is something the Wild are embracing. They know its going to be a hostile environment, but its not as if the Wild have been blown out inside the Pepsi Center. No, the Avalanche have needed to rely on some late magic, pulling Varlamov for an extra skater in Games 1 and 5, get big late goals and to send it into OT, where they found a way to win. "We feel good about the way weve been playing," Parise said. "Hopefully, we can get a win here." Colorado received a boost last game with the return of Matt Duchene from a knee injury. The teams leading scorer in the regular season is still rounding into shape, but with every shift hes getting back his quickness. "This is just another game," Duchene said. "Thats how you have to treat Game 7s." The previous time the Avs were in a Game 7 was 2003, when they were eliminated by the Wild in Roys last game. "Thats not going to have a big effect on our team," Roy said, smiling. "Because there are not that many players from then that are still with us."cheap nfl jerseys . "It was tough out there today but it was the same for both of us," said Ivanovic, who won her only major title at Roland Garros in 2008. "I just tried to move and to adjust and really tried to look at the ball and move forward. cheap jerseys . You can catch Canadas opening game against HC Vitkovice,  Monday at 2pm et/11am pt. on TSN2. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said last week that he may try to extend the former France strikers loan from Major League Soccer by two weeks to bolster his scant attacking options. ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Mario Williams is not expected to miss any games after the Buffalo Bills high-priced defensive end had what the team called "a procedure" to relieve discomfort in his injured left wrist. Coach Chan Gailey provided the update Wednesday, saying he expects Williams to return to practice next week once the Bills return from their bye weekend off. Gailey, was otherwise, very short on specifics in sharing any other details regarding the status of the NFLs highest-paid defensive player. Gailey wouldnt reveal what the procedure was, where or when it took place -- "I think it was yesterday," he said -- and even who determined it was necessary. "I dont know all that," Gailey said in discussing the teams underperforming star who signed a six-year, $100 million contract in free agency in March. "They told me what happened and said hed be ready next week. Thats all I know." That might be all that counts for the Bills (3-4), who stumbled into their bye week off having lost three of four. They get a chance to rest, recuperate and regroup before travelling to play at Houston -- Williams former team -- on Nov. 4. A person familiar with Williams had said the player had visited a specialist to determine whether to have surgery. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the team has not revealed that information. Williams missed practice and did not attend team meetings on Wednesday. He hasnt been spotted at the Bills facility since he spoke to reporters following a 35-34 loss to Tennessee on Sunday. "I really need this bye week," Williams had said. "Just try to get healthy and take care of my body." Hes been bothered by the injury since being hurt in the final week of the preseason. Though Williams has not revealed the exact nature of the injury, hes blamed it on affecting his performance by limiting his ability to use his left hand in shedding blockers. His production has been spotty at best, and resulted in Williams taking the brunt of criticism for many of the defences shortcomings this season. Buffalos allowed an NFL-worst 1,238 yards rushing -- thats 986 yards short of the teams total last season -- and that includes giving up a combined 937 yards rushing in its last four games. The lack of production led defensive end Chris Kelsay to publicly question his teammates for taking plays off a dayy after the loss to the Titans.wholesale nfl jerseys. Williams is a two-time Pro Bowl selection, who in six seasons in Houston set the Texans franchise record with 53 career sacks. In Buffalo, hes second on the team with 3 1/2 sacks. And thats down from last year in Houston, where he had five sacks in five games before landing on the season-ending injured reserve list because of a chest injury. "Im hesitant," he had said on Sunday, after being credited with two tackles. "I dont know if its just me in general, but thats on me and thats fine. I know I have to change that, believe me. I dont need anybody to tell me that. I look at it just like everybody else does." Williams injury has proven costly for the Bills. The NFL fined Buffalo $20,000 on Friday, by ruling that Williams should have been on the teams injury report since the start of the season even though he had not missed a practice. Gailey had first revealed to reporters that Williams had been playing hurt a day after the Bills season-opening 48-28 loss at the New York Jets on Sept. 9. Williams acknowledged he was hurt two days later by saying, "I had a little freak deal a couple of weeks ago." Gailey had promising news with other injured players. Defensive end Mark Anderson was given an outside shot to be ready to play against Houston. Anderson, who was signed by Buffalo a week after Williams, has missed two games since having knee surgery. Though he missed practice, he was spotted walking around the locker room with only a wrap on his left knee. Starting right guard Kraig Urbik practice fully for the first time since spraining his right ankle three weeks ago. Urbiks return is timely because it comes after his backup, Chad Rinehart, severely hurt his left ankle last weekend. Gailey was cryptic in saying starting left guard Andy Levitre also had "some extra work done on him," but added hes expected to play next week. ------ NOTES: LT Cordy Glenn (right knee), DT Kyle Williams and Kelsay (left ankle) practiced on a limited basis. ... CB Terrence McGee (left knee) did not practice. ... TE Mike Caussin is expected to begin practicing on Monday for the first time in nine months since having surgery to repair a right knee injury. Caussin opened the season on the reserve-unable to perform list. The Bills will have three weeks to activate Caussin. cheap jerseys ' ' '
