ANAHEIM, Calif. Wholesale MLB Jerseys . - Far out of playoff contention, the Seattle Mariners have turned to a youth movement as they bank on the future. Blake Beavan and Trayvon Robinson are two reasons for optimism. Beavan pitched in and out of trouble through eight impressive innings, Robinson hit his first major league homer in his second game up from triple-A, and Seattle beat the Los Angeles Angels 5-1 on Saturday night. "Were going to make some young mistakes from time to time, but theyre going to learn from it," manager Eric Wedge said. "Theyre starting to understand that and theyre taking ownership of it, too." Former Angels post-season star Adam Kennedy hit a two-run double for the Mariners, who are 6-3 since a franchise-record 17-game losing streak. The victory was only their third in their last 20 games at Angel Stadium. Beavan (3-2) allowed a run and eight hits, struck out two and walked none in his sixth big league start. The 22-year-old right-hander has pitched into the seventh inning in every one of them. He faced the Angels on July 8 at Seattle, getting a no-decision after giving up a pair of solo homers over 6 1-3 innings. "The biggest thing I try to do is just throw strikes and get ahead and let your defence do the work," Beavan said. "Im not a strikeout guy, so I try to locate everything." Brandon League worked the ninth in a non-save situation after Beavan threw 103 pitches. "Ive been impressed with all of Blakes outings, but his last two I felt like he was using all his weapons more effectively and really balancing it out with his fastball and his secondary stuff," Wedge said. "If he hadnt thrown 113 pitches in his last outing on regular rest, I probably would have sent him back out there for the ninth. But hes still a young pitcher and thats as far as hes gone. So that was enough." Robinson, a 23-year-old switch-hitter who made a sparkling big league debut on Friday night by robbing Torii Hunter of a two-run homer in the left-field corner, made it 5-0 in the seventh with an opposite-field drive to left-centre on Tyler Chatwoods 106th and final pitch. He wasnt sure it had gone out and held up at second for a few moments before completing his trip around the bases. "Thats good. That means hes got his head down and hes running," Wedge said. "In time, hell know when he hits them out of the ballpark." Robinson hit 64 home runs during a 6 1/2-year minor league career that was spent mostly in the Los Angeles Dodgers system. "That was wild. I couldnt believe it," Robinson said. "I just tried to put a good swing on it and it jumped off the bat. When I got to second base, I was like, Good. I hit a double, because I only hit nine doubles in the minors this year -- so I figure now Im in double digits. Then I saw the umpire wave his hand, and I was like, Hey, thats even sweeter. Its the best feeling. Its the best week of my life. Every day is something new." Chatwood (6-8) gave up five runs and seven hits over 6 1-3 innings in his first career start against Seattle, after allowing a career-worst six runs in a 12-2 loss at Detroit on July 29. The rookie right-hander, who departed with a 5-0 deficit, has made eight starts this season in which his teammates didnt score while he was in the game. "We didnt give him any support, but he threw a nice game," Bobby Abreu said. "Once we give him a little bit more support, hell feel more comfortable on the mound." Beavan worked with runners on base in each of the first seven innings. He got a break in the Angels third, when speedy Peter Bourjos was held up by third base coach Dino Ebel on a sharp single to right-fielder Ichiro Suzuki. Erick Aybar followed with an inning-ending double-play grounder. "He made some big pitches in key moments," Wedge said. "One thing weve seen with Blake is that hes very composed for a young man and he pitches with a great deal of confidence. He has a presence out there, and I think when you pitch like that in those situations, it allows you to have the opportunity to have success. And weve seen him do that multiple times." The Mariners, who came in hitting .183 with runners in scoring position and two outs, took the lead with two outs in the first on Kennedys two-run double -- equalling the number of RBIs he had in 62 at-bats over his previous 16 games. Seattle made it 4-0 in the third with a two-out double by Mike Carp and a run-scoring single by Miguel Olivo. Carp, who played high school ball about 25 miles up the freeway at Lakewood High, is batting .344 with 15 RBIs in 16 games since he was recalled from triple-A Tacoma on July 19. Cheap MLB Jerseys .J. - Peyton Manning counts $17. ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- James Loney put the finishing touch on a Tampa Bay comeback victory. Loney hit a go-ahead, two-run double in the eighth inning and the Rays beat the Texas Rangers 5-4 on Saturday night. "I really felt good about James right there," Tampa Bay manager Joe Maddon said. "Hes calm, but hes got that thing going on inside. It definitely burns. He wants to win and he wants to play well." Loney lined an opposite-field drive off Neal Cotts (0-1) that went over left fielder Shin-Soo Choo and put the Rays up 5-4. His hit came after Evan Longoria was intentionally walked to put the potential tying and go-ahead runs on base. "I was actually (surprised)," Loney said of the walk to Longoria. "They had a one-run lead, but people like to do that now." Brandon Gomes (1-0) pitched a perfect eighth before Grant Balfour got the final three outs for his first save. Yunel Escobar and Matt Joyce homered for the Rays. David Price, who was sick Friday and almost didnt pitch, gave up four runs and nine hits in six innings. "Feel better since we won," Price said. Texas right-hander Nick Martinez allowed three runs and four hits over six innings in his major league debut. "Nick gave us a chance," Rangers manager Ron Washington said. "At the end, we had the right people in there, we just didnt get the job done." Alex Rios put the Rangers up 2-0 with a two-out, two-run double in the first off Price. Rios has 12 hits in 30 at-bats with 10 RBIs against the Rays left-hander. It was announced before the game that Escobar and the Rays had agreed to a two-year extension for 2015 and 2016 worth a guaranteed $13 million. There is a 2017 club option. After Choo had a sacrifice fly in the fourth, Joyce cut the Rays deficit to 4-3 with a two-run homer in the bottom half. Maddon had a successful challenge for the second straight game. It was first ruled that Robinson Chirinos had beat Escobars throw from shortstop to first for an infield single in the second, but after a 1-minute, 35-second delay the umpires changed the call to an out. Maddon won his first replay reversal in the seventh Friday night after it was first ruled that right fielder Wil Myers didnt make the catch while sliding forward on J.P. Arencibias two-out flare. After a 1-minute, 43-second delay, the umpires ruled Myers did make the catch. "The umpires have done a great job with it," Maddon said. "It seems to be working well."
