Bleackleys goal late in the second period eventually forced overtime and he was the only scorer in the shootout as the Red Deer Rebels edged the Medicine Hat Tigers 2-1 on Wednesday in Western Hockey League action. Goaltender Patrik Bartosak made 40 saves and turned away three Tigers skater to earn the win for Red Deer (32-30-5). Anthony Ast scored for Medicine Hat (41-22-4), while Marek Langhamer stopped 34 shots. The Rebels could not score on their two power plays, while the Tigers had no man advantages. --- WARRIORS 6 HITMEN 1 MOOSE JAW, Sask. -- Brayden Point had a hat trick to lead the Warriors past Calgary. Jack Rodewald scored and added three assists for Moose Jaw (18-40-9), while Tanner Eberle and Jesse Forsberg chipped in as well. Justin Paulic made 41 saves for the win. Joe Mahon was the lone scorer for the Hitmen (44-16-7). Mack Shields stopped 14 of 18 shots in 32:28 or work before giving way to Chris Driedger, who turned aside 12-of-13 shots. --- OIL KINGS 5 PATS 2 REGINA -- Edgars Kulda had a pair of goals to power Edmonton past the Pats. Curtis Lazar scored and added two assists for the Oil Kings (46-17-3), while Brett Pollock and Riley Kieser also found the back of the net. Tristan Jarry made 21 saves for the win. Dryden Hunt did all the scoring for Regina (37-24-6). Daniel Wapple started in net for the Pats, stopping nine-of-12 shots in 24:49 of work. Dawson MacAuley turned aside 24 of 25 shots in relief. --- GIANTS 2 BLAZERS 1 VANCOUVER -- Joel Hamiltons goal 58 seconds into the third period stood as the winner as the Giants held on to beat Kamloops. Connor Chartier gave the Chiefs (36-24-6) a 1-0 lead at the 17:03 mark of the first period and Eric Williams stopped 26 shots in net. --- WINTERHAWKS 5 AMERICANS 1 KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Defenceman Anton Cederholm had the eventual winner as Portland topped Tri-City. Josh Hanson, Keegan Iverson, Chase De Leo and Paul Bittner rounded out the attack for the Winterhawks (48-13-5). Corbin Boes made 28 saves for the win. Niko Gallego and Tony Abreu had RBI doubles for Arizona.SAN DIEGO -- Ian Kennedys solid pitching and offensive production throughout the San Diego Padres lineup was enough to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 12-2 on Wednesday night. Kennedy (7-10) struck out seven and allowed two runs and six hits in seven innings while facing his ex-team for the second time since being acquired by the Padres on July 31. He had a no-decision in their previous encounter. The Padres hit three homers, four batters had at least two RBIs and four batters finished with multiple hits. Jedd Gyorko continued his solid season, as his 21st home run placed him one ahead of the Atlanta Braves Evan Gattis for the major league lead among rookies. Chase Headley had three RBIs, with Gyorko and Chris Denorfia getting two each. Gyorkos two-run homer capped a four-run fifth that gave the Padres a 6-2 lead. Denorfia accounted for the other runs with a two-run single which scored Kennedy and Will Venable. For Arizona starter Randall Delgado (5-7) that was his last inning after surrendering six runs and seven hits. The Padres Tommy Medica homered in the fourth to tie the score 2-2. It was Medicas third homer since being elevated from Double-A on Sept. 10. Medicas blast erased Kennedys mistake in the top of that inning, one that came without him delivering a pitch. Paul Goldschhmidt opened with a double and advanced to third on Martin Prados single. Cowboys #48 Jersey. With runners at the corners, Kennedy stepped toward third on a pick-off attempt, but didnt throw the ball. Goldschmidt scored on the balk for a 2-1 lead. The Diamondbacks had pulled even at 1 in the third when Delgado drove in Gerardo Parra with a single up the middle. Parra led off the inning with a double after Kennedy retired the first six batters. Two doubles got the Padres a run in the first. Headleys double off Parras glove in right-centre chased home Denorfia, who was aboard after his one-out double. Chris Robinsons three-run homer in the eighth was the first hit of his career, coming on his sixth major league at-bat. Rene Rivera, Headley and Denorfia all had three hits for the Padres. NOTES: Venable isnt 100 per cent with his abdominal strain, but he returned to the starting lineup. Venable, who has a team-high 22 HRs, missed two games. ... SS Ronny Cedeno, who was beaned by a pitch from Heath Bell on Monday, remains out with a headache. ... Goldschmidt extended his hitting streak to 15 games with a fourth-inning double. ...
