Kenny Mansally slipped a shot just wide of the right post in the 72nd as New England nearly equalized, leaving manager Steve Nicol with his hands covering his head on the sideline. Lekic then appeared to find the tying goal with three minutes remaining, but the score was correctly called back for offside, and New York held on for the win despite a long spell of strong play from New England.
